Anger. One of the most charged emotions a person can feel. To some, it happens, but it is not an emotion that takes them over. It is maybe a slight irritation. It is something they can get under control.
For others, it can cause intense fury and rage. When that does happen, it quickly loses control and can turn destructive. This causes problems in relationships, work, and in your general quality of life.
A person who allows himself to get out of control is really controlled by this emotion and its unpredictable.
The goal of anger management counseling is to reduce the emotional feelings the physical arousal that anger causes.
With my experience in anger management San Diego I would like to explore a couple of ways to control this emotion.
First thing you need to do is relax. Some relaxation tools are deep breathing. You can also you calming images. Another tool is to use slow calming words to repeat to yourself.
You don’t have to just use these techniques for anger. Try to make it a daily habit if your anger is an issue.
Second you have to change the way you think.Simply put, the anger may cause you to talk loudly, swear, and cause you to express yourself colorfully. These really are just your inner thoughts expressed. What you have to try to do is to replace this angry irrational thoughts with rational ones.
Instead of allowing yourself to feel you have been wronged, try to tell yourself that this is not the end of the world.
Third, communication is something you have to try to do better. When a person gets in a heated discussion or gets angry, the communications often breaks down.Rather than thinking before speaking, their emotions let them say whatever.
Slow down so you can think about how you are going to communicate your thoughts.
Finally, a change in your environment might help. A lot of times when we are angry or frustrated, just stopping and going someplace else can change our moods completely.
Changing your environment might just be enough to make your emotions calm and control your anger.
Although not the end all, these tips will help you get a control on anger. If you find it does not, you will want to go get some professional help maybe with a family therapist San Diego.
